But what I love best about proposal 1 2008 is what the "We the People" have done with it, and the fact that it was crafted in such a way as to allow the People to make it work. I firmly believe we have done this, and are doing so in the best way we know how.
A law is, after all, just a bunch of words written on a document.
Without the local authorities, or a judge, or another citizen, or group of citizens to enforce or manifest such a law into practice, it's just an empty "paper tiger". Likewise, you could pass one million "proposal 1's", but without the People (you and I together) who have brought it from a state of theory to a state of practice, this law would be an empty "paper tiger" as well.
Anyone of you who knows myself and Brandon know that our stated goal from the day this proposal passed has been to "Bring Proposal 1 of 2008 from a state of theory into a state of practice, and to do so in a way that is demonstratably safe, professional, and benefits the entire community, and by extension the State of Michigan as a whole. Not exclusively patients and caregivers."
We have always striven to do exactly that, while facilitating the Spirit of the Law that was passed by The People in the State of Michigan, and we have striven to facilitate ailing patients receiving their doctor recommended therapy in a safe and comfortable environment. We believe that by working with the State's best farmers, and by allowing patients access to the best caregiver services, we have done exactly what The People of Michigan had in mind when passing this law.
And that is, in the end, what I love best about this law, and this nation. For once it was left up to The People to forge the infrastructure that would best facilitate ailing patients receiving their recommended therapy. We should be proud that we together have succeeded. Peacefully, intelligently, as a community, and effectively.
The Letter of the Law concerning Proposal 1 2008 is a set of guidelines, and the skeleton of a beurocratic process that allows for licensing qualifying patients in the State of Michigan. The Spirit of the Law concerning Proposal 1 2008 is to allow sick people to have access to good quality, safe, effective, well cultivated medicinal therapy that may alleviate their specific symptoms.
We together, have made this happen. I urge you to be proud of your own creation. Take possession of it. Protect it.
Call your local Representative and tell them how much this therapy has helped you, and how glad you are that it is finally available to you in a dignified atmosphere. After all, why should sick people have to search high and low for the therapy that will be of the most benefit to them? That is NOT the Spirit of Proposal 1, 2008.
BE PROUD! And Come Grow With Us!
